FAQ’s

I have a lot of duplicated products after syncing products from Point of Sale to BigCommerce. How do I fix that?

You will get duplicates if you have the same or similar products in BigCommerce and Point of Sale before setting up the sync. However, the products synced from Point of Sale will end up in a new category called “PayPal Zettle” and can easily be identified.

The integration says the setup is incomplete – what should I do?

You may not have completed every step to sync your products. Click on the BigCommerce integration and complete the setup.

Can I connect multiple BigCommerce stores to my Point of Sale?

You can only connect one Point of Sale to one BigCommerce store.

Which products will be synced?

If you choose to manage products in Point of Sale to BigCommerce, you have two options:

Sync all products during the integration setup

  • Syncs all products already in your Point of Sale library
  • Syncs all newly created products

Manually chose which products to sync with BigCommerce

  • Syncs only the products you selected
  • Syncs all newly created products

If you choose to sync products from BigCommerce to Point of Sale, this syncs all the products you assign to the Point of Sale by PayPal sales channel.

I make updates of product variants in BigCommerce, but variants don’t get changed in Point of Sale?

If you manage products in Point of Sale, all product variant changes must be done in Point of Sale.

If you manage products in BigCommerce, all product variant changes must be done in BigCommerce.

How can I change where I manage my products?

To change from managing your products in Point of Sale to BigCommerce or vice versa, you need to disconnect the integration and connect it again, choosing your preferred platform.

If you’re planning to reconnect the integration again, we suggest removing products from the platform you are disconnecting to avoid duplicates or future sync failures.

Should I include prices when syncing products?

During the integration setup, you will be asked if you want to include prices when you sync products. We recommend choosing not to include prices, and adding prices after the product has synced. This is easier because:

  • You can only include prices if you have matching currency settings in Point of Sale and BigCommerce.
  • This setting will affect the initially synced products as well as all future synced products, and can only be changed by disconnecting and reconnecting the integration.

When you choose not to sync prices, all products will be synced with a value of 0, and you should add the price inside the platform you synced to.

How are my taxes handled?

BigCommerce uses the tax settings in your BigCommerce store and applies them to all products synced from Point of Sale. If you sell products with different VAT rates, please make sure to update their VAT once the sync is complete. Changes you make in BigCommerce or Point of Sale to VAT are never overwritten or synced, it is not part of the integration.

Point of Sale prices always include tax but on BigCommerce you can choose whether to include tax in your prices or not.

Important: If you choose not to include taxes in the price of your BigCommerce products, but still have taxes included in your Point of Sale prices, your margins will be affected.

If you are managing products in Point of Sale, we recommend not syncing prices but instead adding your price in BigCommerce after the products have synced. Tax settings are not synced from Point of Sale, so your products will come under the BigCommerce tax rules.

There are a few exceptions: Any updates you make to the VAT in BigCommerce will not be overwritten. If you choose not to sync prices from Point of Sale, you will be able to set the prices in BigCommerce without them being overwritten.

If I sell in BigCommerce, will the inventory be updated in Point of Sale?

Yes. A sale or refund in BigCommerce will update the inventory number in Point of Sale.

If I sell in Point of Sale, will the inventory be updated in BigCommerce?

Yes. A sale or refund in Point of Sale will update the inventory number in BigCommerce, too.

What happens if I manually update the inventory in BigCommerce/Point of Sale?

Regardless of where you update your inventory, the update will be reflected in the other platform if inventory tracking is enabled and separate stock is disabled.

Can I disable syncing of inventory?

If you chose to manage products in Point of Sale, then you can turn off inventory sync for an individual product inside the product details page. Check the section “How to enable separate stock for PayPal Point of Sale and BigCommerce” for more information.

Will BigCommerce take a percentage fee of the sales made in Point of Sale?
